Privacy policy
Effective 12 June 2026
Periphery does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Period.
Screen recording
Periphery uses the macOS Screen Recording permission for one thing: to show live previews of your connected external displays in a floating panel. Captured frames are drawn on screen in real time and are never saved, recorded, or sent anywhere. All of it happens locally on your Mac.
No tracking
There are no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. The app needs no account and makes no network connections.
Settings
Your preferences — frame rate, layout, hotkey, and the rest — are stored locally with the standard macOS user defaults. They never leave your Mac.
Web analytics
The Periphery app makes no network connections and sends nothing, as described above. This website is the one exception: it uses Umami, a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool, to count visits.
Umami sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does not track you across sites. It records only aggregated, anonymous figures — page views, referrer, browser, and screen size — and stores no IP addresses. The data lives on our own server (umi.byndsim.com), hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. We rely on it under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: a legitimate interest in seeing how the site is used so we can make it better.
